William A. Runyan

William A. Runyan, 87, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, February 20, 2009, at Major Hospital. Born July 6, 1921, in Shelby County, he was the son of Fred Albert and Mamie E. (Pile) Runyan. Survivors include his nieces, Joyce (husband, Mike) Garrison of Shelbyville and Karen (husband, Gary) Wickliff of Bowling Green, Ky.; great-nieces, Kathy Henning and Lori Wallien; and great-nephew, Jason Garrison. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anita Jane Duckworth; and great-nephew, Gregory A. Wickliff. Mr. Runyan had been employed at Knauf Fiberglass for more than 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Runyan graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1939. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.m. Saturday in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County. Services have been entrusted to Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post No. 70, 1125 S. Miller Ave., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176
