William B. Williams, 81, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at his home.
Born Sept. 1, 1923, in Shelby County, he was the son of the late Herbert P. and Genevieve (Barger) Williams. He married Betty Mallory on March 8, 1946, and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Bruce A. (wife, Sheila) Williams of Donalsonville, Ga., Clay R. (wife, Deborah) Williams of Greenwood and Daniel M. Williams; one sister, Martha Ann Bridges of Nashville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Patrick J. Williams; two brothers, Robert G. Williams and James H. ?Jim? Williams; and one sister, Janet W. Ingle.
Mr. Williams was one of the founders of Williams Industries, with his father and brothers.
He graduated in 1941 from Fairland High School.
Mr. Williams was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 70 and Disabled American Veterans.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Miller officiating.
