William C. “Bill” Cox, Sr., 70, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his residence.
Born November 13, 1942, in Shelby County, he was the son of Raleigh Elwood Sr. and Lona (Flick) Cox. He married Karen Weaver on November 8, 1963, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Tim (wife, Maricarol) Cox of St. Paul and William C. “Chris” Cox, Jr. of Shelbyville; daughters, Christina (husband, Mike) Olinger of Shelbyville and Jill (husband, Tony) Hammer of Greenwood; brother, Raleigh E. (wife, Mahalia) Cox, Jr. of Rushville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Cox, Charles Cox, Robert Paul Cox and Richard Cox; sisters, Kathy Cox, Mary Lou Brown, Georgeanna Pogue, Virginia Williams, Thelma Kepple and Julia Burch.
Bill was a lifelong Shelby County resident and graduated from Waldron High School in 1961.
He retired from Kroger Dairy in 1992, after 26 years of service, and was a member of the Teamster Union.
Bill enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling, IU basketball and Colts football. He loved the holidays, especially a snowy Christmas with family gatherings and Christmas lights.
Private family services will be observed.
