William D. "Poke" Hickle, 67, of Morristown, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born April 18, 1938, in Maysville, Ky., he was the son of the late Carl E. and Margaret Mae (Howell) Hickle.
Survivors include one stepson, Dave Cross of Beech Grove; four sisters, Ann Curtis of Wilkinson, Peggy O'Cull of Maysville, Ky., Edna Mae Meyers of Manchester, Ky., and Brenda Tyree of Lost Creek, Wis.; two brothers, James ?Jimmy? Hickle of Missouri and Carl Hickle of Farmersville, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Cody Cross and Brandon Jones, both of New Palestine.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Hedges and Nellie Hamilton; and two brothers, John Hickle and Henry Hickle.
Mr. Hickle had lived in the Morristown area for the last 20 years.
He had been a self-employed home improvement contractor in Shelby County, retiring in 1993.
Mr. Hickle was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 102, in Morristown, serving as a past commander, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Asbury Cemetery, in Morristown, with military rites conducted by local service organizations.
