William Harrison “Bill” Hurley, 76, of Fairland, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born December 13, 1939, in Olin, Kentucky, the son of Amos and Susie (Price) Hurley. On December 9, 1961, he married his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Jean Anderson, and she survives.
Bill is also survived by his son, Robert Hurley, Sr. of Greenfield; brother, Edward Hurley of Shelbyville; sister, Marie Bastin of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Tiffany Byrd and Robert Hurley Jr., both of Fairland, and Nicholas Hurley and Codie Hurley, both of Martinsville; great-grandchildren, Jerred Mercer and Caleb Butler, both of Fairland, Khaos Hurley of Martinsville and Shelby Badgley of Wanamaker; great-great-grandchildren, Zoey Marie Mencer, Ava Nichole Mencer and Bentley Little; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Lynette Israel; brothers, Hobert Hurley and Russell Hurley; sisters, Lillie Whittle and Sharon Jenkins.
Bill was a construction worker and worked for Union No. 38, building bridges. He also formerly worked at Fairland Insulation and in the maintenance department at Northwestern School District in Fairland.
He was blessed with the ability to construct or fix anything the Lord laid on his heart.
Bill loved the outdoors, working in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren, family and church family.
Bill was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin. He is now an owner of a brand new mansion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Fred Brown officiating.
Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
