William Joseph “Bill” Amos, 82, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at his residence.
He was born January 16, 1936, in Shelbyville, the son of Whilden and Elizabeth (Watt) Amos. On March 9, 1958, he married Janice Vaught, and she preceded him in death on September 2, 1991.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Haymond and husband, Rick, of Waldron, Deborah Smalley and husband, Chris, of Shelbyville, and Katrina Amos and husband, Jeff Sundquist, of South Jordan, Utah; grandchildren, Ross Haymond and wife, Katie, Kara Haymond, Brandon Smalley and fiance’, Stephanie, Tyler Smalley, Chad Sundquist, Erik Sundquist and wife, Megan, and Christopher Sundquist.
In addition to Janice, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert P. Amos.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1954.
Bill was a US Army veteran.
He was a farmer, and also worked as clerical support for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for 37 years, until retiring in October of 1995.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
