William L. “Bill” Callahan, 67, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born October 1, 1946, in Shelbyville, the son of Harry L. and Ella (Tretler) Callahan. He married Marsha Mae Smith on May 16, 1998, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, James Parker and wife, Cory, of Rushville; daughter, Jodie Mae Rogers and husband, Richard, of Rushville; sister, Karen K. Kristoffs and husband, John, of Caledonia, Minnesota; grandchildren, Addy Parker, Josephine Tungate, Cierra Mae Rogers and Daisy Mae Rogers; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill graduated from Morristown High School in 1964. He received a teaching degree from Ball State University.
He was a member of the Morristown Christian Church.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971.
He began his working career as a teacher at Muncie Central High School in the mid 1970’s. He worked at Freudenberg NOK from 1978 to 2003, then he worked at Plastic Moldings from 2004, until retiring in 2012.
Bill was a member of the Morristown Masonic Lodge No. 193 F&AM, where he was a Past Master, and Morristown American Legion.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Masonic rites will be conducted at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at the funeral home, with Elder Mike Chastain officiating.
Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
