William Leslie “Les” Scott, 85, of Fairland, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, the son of Joe Ed and Juanita (Milby) Scott. On July 20, 1955, he married his wife of 62 years, Jammie Gossett, and she survives.
In addition to Jammie, Les is survived by his daughter, Patricia McLaughlin of Shelbyville; son, Joseph Allen Scott of Indianapolis; brothers, Sammie Edward Scott of Edmonton, Kentucky, Eugene Scott and wife, Melanie, of St. George, Utah, Burney Scott and wife, Bettie, of Zionsville, and Richard Scott of Indianapolis; grandson, Jordan Scott; great-grandchild, Sawyer Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elsie Ferguson, Annie Anderson and Geneva Scott; and brothers, Warner Scott and Earl Thomas Scott.
Les was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Les retired from Western Electric, where he gold-plated contacts, with 30 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 114 West Rampart Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the church, with Bishop Ray Brewer officiating.
Interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
