William Moore "Buck" Briggs

William Moore “Buck” Briggs, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. He was born July 4, 1937, in Asheville, North Carolina, the son of Grady and Carrie (Ledford) Briggs. Buck is survived by close friends, Shelley Tharp and family of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sylvia Desotell. Buck graduated from St. Mary’s Perpetual Help. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961. Buck was formerly a welder, doing trailer repair at various shops, last working at Zip Express. He enjoyed hunting small game and bass fishing. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
