Willie Caudill, 78, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born June 28, 1928, in Harlan County, Ky., he was the son of George and Julie Ann (Griffie) Caudill. Survivors include two sons, Darrell Caudill of St. Paul and Jimmy Caudill of Knightstown; five daughters, Carolyn Merrick, Beth Ann Shirrel and Teresa Caudill, all of Shelbyville, Irene Hobbs of Greensburg and Lorie Ann Stephens of Flat rock; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie McFarland; five brothers; and three sisters. Mr. Caudill moved to Shelbyville from Kentucky in 1950. He had been a coal miner in Letcher County, Ky., for Leatherwood Coal Co. In Shelbyville he was an assembler at KT Corp. and later owned and operated a small engine shop on Teal Street from 1977 until retiring in 1992. Mr. Caudill was a member of Dayspring Community Church. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
